The modern Theatre-festival Baltic House has been constructed and created as the Theatre of Lenin Komsomol for the Leningrad youth in the late 30s last century. Creative activity of this theatre has always been connected with experiment, search for new theatrical forms. During the certain historical moment it became the centre of public thought and culture of the northern capital: the best products of the Russian and world classics, plays of modern writers were performed on its stage.

From the beginning of the 90s The Baltic House gets its new status of the theatre-festival and becomes the place for the most prestigious international theatrical competitions and forums. One of the mainstreams of the theater activity today is developing cultural contacts between Russia, countries of Baltic region and Europe. The Baltic House is the traditional place for such festivals, as The Theatre Union of Europe, Solstice vanguard art festival, Monocle international festival of solo performances, Meetings in Russia - the international festival of the Russian theatres of the CIS and Baltic countries and others.

The Theatre-festival Baltic House is located in the historical center of St.Petersburg, near Peter and Paul Fortress - birthplace of the city. The architecture of The Baltic House building unites the features of the monumental constructivism and so-called Stalin empire style. The theatre has two stages, huge and light premises of foyer decorated with graceful but strict decor. Work of the highly skilled creative, technical and management personnel, modern equipment and communications allow organizing art events here at international level.
